The MESPT BS department implements projects in some of the intervention areas that its predecessor, BSMDP, worked in. In selecting these areas for intervention, emphasis was placed on the existing and the potential opportunities for offering and furthering the development of business services.
This is in line with the basic principles of BDS support programs, which recognize micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as a key force in economic development and the growth engine of an economy. These MSMEs by definition need to be supported by a series of business services in order to maximize their growth potential.
However, they lack the capacity to internally provide these services and other MSME business service providers are best placed to provide them.
